As a business, we conduct training on a regular basis, and we once logged into a training session to find that when the guy shared his screen, there was a very small window left open showing a sexual act. I think the first time he noticed this was when all of our faces gradually edged closer to make sure it was what we thought it was – and it was. Now, it might be that this guy did not have a computer use policy in place, and so maybe he thought he was allowed. It might be that he didn’t have a contract that stated he had to devote all of his working time to actual work. Maybe he had a side hustle of reviewing p*rn. However, if you’re an employer, you want to make sure that you are protecting your business from all of these circumstances. You don’t want him to be able to claim, “Yeah, I was watching p*rn during work time, but no one told me I couldn’t.” You want to make sure that you are very, very clear on what they have breached as you go through, hopefully, that disciplinary procedure.
