As an employer, you have a responsibility to your employees to teach them about data protection laws. Now you can have your policy document and in there you want to be telling them how they treat data within your business. That could be internal data, it could be client data, candidate data, people who will apply to work with you. All of that is personal data that identifies someone that they need to be protecting.
Now in your policy document you can list where things are saved, you can list how they treat that data, how they look after it, which laws they can look at, but you should also give them a type of training whether that be face-to-face or whether it be online. Anything just to make it a little bit more prominent in their minds, make it a bit more understandable because nobody likes reading policies.
