Chat GPT + contracts any good?

So ChatGPT can be really useful in contracts. I’ve actually done a contract on ChatGPT and it inputs all of your usual clauses that you want in there. It’s a good base contract. What it is not is specific. It only goes back to 2021, so any recent laws won’t be in there. Now, if you want a base contract, great, go on there, type in contract. You do need to specify which jurisdiction you want it into and you need to be careful because it confuses UK and US clauses. So that’s one of the issues. But if you just want a base, absolutely fine, use it. If you need a specific contract, if you need a technical contract, it’s absolutely useless. Do not get a shareholder agreement from ChatGPT.

It’s just not specific enough. Do not get any specific sector Agreements, because the clauses that it pulls in, generally wrong, they’re out of date. Do not get anything bespoke in there that you need for your business. So make sure you go through it, make sure you change things, make sure you have it checked by a legal professional, because it does miss a lot. But base, simple agreement, NDA, fine, go to town on it.
